16 August 2016
The new term has begun and today I welcomed our new nursery pupils, 2 new P1 classes, 22 new primary pupils into other years, our new S1 and a host of other new pupils into the secondary! I also spoke with all the children across the school to welcome them back and reminded them of our expectation that here in St John’s Academy we always do our best.
I also reminded our secondary pupils that mobile phones are to be switched off during and between classes (unless the teacher expressly gives permission). For parents, I ask that you do not contact your children by mobile during the school day – please use the school office instead (01738 454300).
This morning I congratulated S5 and S6 on their examination results. We are still analysing the results, but early indications are that they are looking very good across the board. Well done to each of them.
Today we also received confirmation from the Fairtrade Foundation that our Fairtrade ‘Fairachiever’ School Status has been renewed. Many thanks to staff, pupils and partners (including the Bean Shop) for all their hard work and generosity.
As always, please remember that our uniform information is available on this website. This morning the pupils from P1-S6 looked excellent – so thank you so much for this. And please don’t forget the School Holiday dates for 2016-17 and 2017-18 are here.
Finally, we’ve added a link to ParentPay on our main page. If you haven’t activated your account, please do so. You can email the school if you need another copy of your username and password. Using ParentPay will (if everyone does it) cut down on administration tasks in our office and will be a big help to us.
I will soon be asking you to complete our annual data check – please look out for this. It really helps us when we have a 100% completion rate as this information is essential to communicating with you.
With every good wish,
Seán P Hagney
