Pennies for the Playgrounds
Friends of St John’s RC Academy will already know that the school community is amazingly generous and we support a number of charitable initiatives each year. Many of these such as the Halloween Disco for YPI, the S6 ACTFAST and P7 Fundraisers for SCIAF, and the MacMillan Coffee Morning, will continue this year.
Over the coming year, we are also keen to improve the primary playground which has very limited trim trail facilities. We also hope to develop the play area in the grounds of the Marie Curie Children’s Hospital and the Recuperare Clinic in Bucharest. We have a long standing link with this hospital and each year staff and pupils volunteer there. Their playground is in desperate need of repair and they have given us costed plans. If we can raise enough then they too will have a suitable outdoor area for the children.
We aim to raise £35000 through fundraising and grant applications. This is a huge sum for us so your continued generosity is really appreciated. We have raised £5000 already – so we are on the way!
We are currently looking for raffle prizes and bottles suitable for a bottle stall. Donations can be handed in to reception for ‘Pennies for the Playgrounds’. If you have business contacts, we would also welcome corporate gifts – either donations or prizes. There will be a number of activities over the coming months focused on fundraising, including our 5th Birthday Community Event on Saturday, 3 December – more information on this will follow.
Thank you for your generosity in supporting our fundraising initiatives. These events really add to the Catholic ethos of our school as we learn to put others first and work for the common good of all.
