Playground update

The Pennies for the Playgrounds appeal has come to an end as we have finally achieved our goal of raising £35,000. These funds are being used to improve our own primary playground, and improve the play areas in the Marie Curie Hospital and the Recuperare Clinic in Bucharest. A major stage of improving our own playground has been delivered over the summer, with new equipment and safer surfaces being laid. We are also planning to improve the grassy areas, increase the number of activity areas and improve the area more generally. The work in Bucharest is also going ahead with improvements to their playpark, including a swing suitable for wheelchairs, and improvements to their child-friendly waiting areas within the hospital and clinic.

Many thanks to the children, staff, parents and partners for your generosity. St John’s RC Academy would also like to record our thanks for the considerable contributions from the following:

  • The Big Lottery Fund
  • Tesco Bags of Help
