11 December 2015 – Focus on Primary

Dear Parents and Carers

Christmas is definitely coming!  Here at St John’s we have been busy celebrating the season of Advent as we prepare for the birth of Christ at Christmas.

Looking back

  • Bishop Stephen’s visit to the school to launch our ‘Year of Mercy’ was a great day.  He met with lots of our primary and secondary pupils, and celebrated mass for us.  He even got a sneak preview of the P2 Nativity!
  • The P2 Nativity with the Christmas Show was a fantastic success and both performances were well supported by parents.  The evening – which had the Christmas market also – was packed!  Your support at these events is so important to us (and to your children), so thank you so much for helping making these such a success. The children acted, read and sang brilliantly.  I know all our parents and carers will be beaming with pride!  The Nativity and Show raised over £1200 for school funds and the Christmas market raised more than £530 for SCIAF – thank you for your generosity.

Looking forward

  • During the last week of term each class will have a Christmas Party. P1 & P2 on Monday 14, P3 & P4 on Tuesday 15 and P5, P6 & P7 on Wednesday 16 December. Tickets available from the school office.
  • We will also have our Christmas Assembly with Canon Martin for the pupils only on Friday 18 December.
  • School will close at 12noon on Friday 18 December and resume on Tuesday 5 January 2016 at 9.00am.

With every good wish for the Christmas season – I hope Santa is good to you all!
