14 August 2020 – Nursery and Primary
Dear Parents and Carers
What a unique week! This special ‘soft start’ or transition week has been really helpful as we help our pupils adapt to our school’s return. We have been keeping very busy preparing and we are looking forward to everyone being back on Monday.
I met with the nursery and primary staff at the end of today and they have been delighted to see the pupils and report that the children have been adapting quickly to the ‘new normal’. Thanks for preparing them for the changes. These will be ongoing, and your support is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks to all our parents – especially those from nursery and P1 – who have been complying with all the rules regarding physical distancing. Your respect for the safety of the staff is appreciated. Thanks to those who managed to get the uniforms sorted too for day 1 – the children were looking great. If there are any issues regarding uniforms, please contact us.
Keeping our community safe is key. As our community is from a wide catchment, pupils are travelling from different areas of Perth and Kinross in a wide variety of ways. If possible, please encourage your child to choose active travel and walk or cycle to school. If you live too far away, please consider using the bus, or drop your child off well away from the school and walk the rest. A walk through the beautiful North Inch is a great way to start the day!
If there is no alternative and you must drop your child off at school, please use the car park and never come into the turning circle (unless going to a disabled bay). Taxis and buses only in the turning circle. If you are dropping your child off at the school gate, please then leave and do not gather there. Adults should observe the physical distancing guidelines. Thanks for modelling this to our children. A final point – please remember that there are often very young children around and some are afraid of dogs – please do not bring them or, if you do, please ensure they are under the control of an adult.
Finally, please also remember that if your child has any symptoms of COVID-19 then they should not come to school and you should request a test. Information on this is here.
I hope you have a good weekend. I look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday, 17 August 2020.
With every good wish,
Seán P Hagney
