Bishop Stephen’s annual visit

Bishop Stephen Robson, our local Roman Catholic Bishop of Dunkeld, visited St John’s RC Academy on 7 December 2015.

Bishop Stephen spent a full (and busy) day with us.  He had the opportunity to speak with both the P6-7 candidates currently undertaking the Faith Award, and the S6 candidates who are completing the Caritas Award.  Bishop Stephen also met with staff, thanking them for their valuable contribution to the Catholic ethos of the school.  Primary 2 pupils performed the dress rehearsal of their Nativity play for the bishop, with Bishop Stephen commenting on how impressed he was with all our P2 pupils.

Bishop Stephen together with local priests Mgr Hendry, Fr Bogdan and Fr Colin, and joined by Canon Drysdale, led the celebration of mass for P4, P7, S1 and S5-6 pupils and staff.  The theme was the ‘Year of Mercy’ which was officially launched by Pope Francis on 8 December, with the bishop reminding us all of the importance of love, compassion and forgiveness.
