Originating in Canada, YPI is now an international programme and is delivered in secondary school across Scotland. The programme is principally funded and managed in Scotland by The Wood Foundation and St John’s Academy has been delivering the programme to S3 pupils for a number of years.

Despite a difficult year for fundraising, we are delighted to announce that the school raised over £3400 for SCIAF’s WEE BOX appeal. This fundraising qualifies for a special scheme run by the UK Government who will double our donation to £6905. This money will be used by SCIAF to support projects around the world and among some of the most disadvantaged communities on our planet. We have dedicated our new outdoor classroom in honour of Allmeria Oliver. Allmeria, a P5 pupil at the school, died suddenly on December 11, 2020 after an unexpected medical emergency.
The outdoor classroom was requested by pupils through a pupil participatory funding initiative, with this idea garnering the most votes across the primary school. However, this fund wasn’t sufficient to meet the full cost. Support from the Perth Common Good Fund, the Basil Death Trust, Axiom and the Pupil Equity Fund have made this splendid new addition to the primary school a reality.Read more
