Positive Care Inspectorate report for St John’s Academy Nursery

Our Nursery was visited by the Care Inspectorate on 5th February 2016.  The Inspection Report has now been published and highlights a number of areas of very good and excellent practice.

It was identified that the Nursery makes excellent use of the environment both within the nursery and around the rest of the school providing opportunities for stimulating play using areas such as the gym, drama studio, sensory room, noisy quiet, wee room, outdoor classroom and library. They also highlighted that staff are experienced, skilled, enthusiastic and motivated and ensure that our children are provided with a variety of experiences which interest and challenge them. Parent Council News

Thank you to everyone who helped, donated, supported and came along to the Easter Fayre. The Fayre was a great success and raised a fabulous £1462!  This money will be used to support the children and young people across the school.

22 January 2016 – Focus on Primary

Dear Parents/Carers

As we move through January the weather continues to prove challenging!  In classrooms though, we’ve been keeping active developing skills.  I’ve been keeping busy being in classes across the primary and secondary departments looking at cooperative learning in action.

On Tuesday, I attended the Parents’ Council.  Once again it was a very positive meeting – please remember all parents are welcome.  I spoke about the National Improvement Framework (NIF) which is an important document from Scottish Government asking schools to focus on: Read more

Headteacher appointment

We are pleased to announce that Mr Seán Hagney, who has been Acting Headteacher and Campus Leader since July 2014, has been appointed to the permanent position of Headteacher of St John’s RC Academy and Campus Leader of North Inch Community Campus with immediate effect.

In her letter to parents, Quality Improvement Officer, Kathleen Robertson, said, “I am sure you will wish to join me in congratulating Mr Hagney and you can be confident the school will continue to grow and develop under his leadership.” Read more
