Farewell to Mrs May
On 1st Sept 2015 the school paid tribute to our outgoing Headteacher Mrs Audrey May. Mrs May, after careful thought, is taking up a new post with Education Scotland.
During the course of the day there were primary and secondary assemblies. Primary pupils recalled their special memories and presented Mrs May with a personalised thank you gift. In the secondary assemblies Head Boy Andrew Blain spoke on behalf of all the pupils to wish Mrs May their thanks and a fond farewell.
In the evening we came together to celebrate our Annual Family Mass, led by Bishop Stephen Robson. The mass was very well attended by parents, carers and pupils from across our community. Special guests included MSP John Swinney, Depute First Minister; Provost Liz Grant; Convenor of the Lifelong Learning Committee, Cllr Bob Band; our local councillors, colleagues from Perth and Kinross Council, Education and Children’s Services, including Bill Atkinson, Depute Executive Director, Kathleen Robertson, Quality Improvement Officer; colleagues from our own school (past and present) and from our cluster primary schools.
At the end of the service Mr Seán Hagney, Acting Headteacher for the past year, and Mr Roddy Blain, Chair of the Parent Council, spoke on behalf of the school community, paying tribute to Audrey’s leadership which included bringing together St John’s Primary with St Columba’s High School into the new St John’s RC Academy in North Inch Community Campus, raising attainment and widening achievement, and successfully leading the school through our 2014 HMI inspection.
We wish Audrey well in her endeavours and look forward to working with her in her new role.
