Football Mascots! By Caragh McAninch – P7
Olivia Swan (P6) and Peter McAninch (P2) were picked to be Celtic Football Club mascots at the St Johnstone vs Celtic game earlier this month. It was a very exciting time for their family, friends, and classmates and of course, them! Olivia and Peter were really lucky as they got to meet players, take photos, have a kick about with St Johnstone’s mascots and they even got to lead Celtic out onto the pitch at McDiarmid Park! Peter and Olivia were both so happy and judging from the footage of them before leading their team onto the pitch- they were extremely excited!
I asked Peter and Olivia some questions about just how exciting the whole experience was.
How did you feel when you found out that you were going to be a mascot for Celtic?
Olivia: Excited but nervous too!
Peter: I was happy and excited.
What was your favourite thing about being a mascot?
Olivia: My favourite part was running out of the tunnel with Charlie Mulgrew.
Peter: Having a game of football, running out of the tunnel with Celtic and being on TV- I liked all of it the best!
Who is your favourite Celtic Player?
Olivia: I like them all, but Antony Stokes is my favourite.
